The world's top B-boy team 'Jinjo Crew' is tying their shoelaces again for underprivileged youth in Dobong-gu, Seoul. The Korea Social Contribution Association (President Kuk Do-hyeong), a public interest corporation under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, announced on the 18th that it held a working-level meeting for regional youth dance guidance and educational support on the morning of the 17th at the Ssangmun Youth Culture House in Dobong-gu, Seoul.
This activity was brought to fruition after Jang Ji-kwang, a social influencer of the association, first suggested to Kim Jae-won, the head of the social influencer group, saying, "I want to personally teach dance and share hope with children in my neighborhood who are in environments where it is difficult to experience breakdancing." This draws attention as an example of an influencer directly practicing ISR (Influencer Social Responsibility), giving back their talent to society.
In response to Jang Ji-kwang's sincere proposal, Kim Eun-young, the director of Ssangmun Youth Culture House, immediately responded and arranged a meeting. Through the meeting, both classes agreed to focus on technical support this year, conveying basic guidance and essential skills to youth, and to operate a systematic talent donation program starting next year by participating from the planning stage so that more children can benefit.
World-class members of the Jinjo Crew, including Jang Ji-kwang, Kim Heon-jun (Skim), Kim Heon-woo (Wing), and Hwang Myeong-chan (Octopus), will participate in this talent donation. They plan to directly pass on the sense of being at the top of the world today to the youth.
Kim Eun-young, director of Ssangmun Youth Culture House, said, "It is a great source of strength that world-class artists reached out first for the local youth," adding, "The culture house will also spare no support so that children can grow brightly through dance."
Kuk Do-hyeong, president of the Korea Social Contribution Association, stated, "The good will shown by Mr. Jang Ji-kwang is the right direction for influencers to head," and "The association will do its best in administrative support and expanding infrastructure so that the talent donation of Mr. Jang Ji-kwang and the Jinjo Crew can take deep root in the local community."
Meanwhile, Jinjo Crew, the backbone of this talent donation, is a legend in the B-boy world, having won all five major world competitions and achieving the world's first 'Grand Slam'. With interest in breaking increasing following its adoption as an official sport at the 2024 Paris Olympics, this is expected to provide an opportunity for regional youth to explore new career paths.
